1979 Pontiac Trans Am
Run Day June 1, 2024
This particular Solar Gold Trans Am with a Camel-colored Lombard cloth bucket-seat interior is a highly-original, unrestored car showing just 54,038 actual miles. It was originally built at the Van Nuys, California GM plant and sold new at Lakeside Pontiac-GMC in Bellevue, Washington. It's powered by a Code W72 6.6L/220 HP T/A V-8 engine connected to a 4-speed manual transmission, and it features the WS6 Trans Am Special Performance Package, which includes heavy-duty suspension components, 4-wheel disc brakes and 15x8-inch gold-accented Snowflake wheels mounting BF Goodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. Other features include power steering, power brakes, power windows, power door locks, tachometer, AM/FM stereo with cassette tape player (and rear speakers), Safe-T-Track limited-slip differential with 3.23 gears, and Space-Saver spare tire. Original documentation includes the factory build sheet, owner's manual, and misc. receipts. With the demand for late second-generation Trans Ams continually increasing, this very original 1979 W72 Trans Am is a highly desirable version of the last of the 400 Pontiac-powered Firebirds. This would be a welcome addition to any Pontiac or Trans Am enthusiast's garage.
