1959 Desoto Adventurer

DeSoto was the marquee division of the Chrysler Corporation following World War II, and from '56-'60, the Adventurer was Desoto's flagship offering. These cars were based on the design of the ”Forward Look'' body created by the legendary Virgil Exner. The DeSoto Adventurer was a limited-edition, high-performance model, with only 602 hardtops produced in '59. Gold trim, emblems, trunk strips, dual antennas, mirrors and turbine-style wheel covers were all standard on this model. The 350hp/383ci V8 featured dual 4-barrel carburetors and a high-lift cam. The Adventurer's mesh grille, emblems, trim, and the turbine-style wheels were finished in anodized gold, beautifully accentuating all of the radical lines and styling of this Desoto. Power brakes were offered as standard equipment and the suspension was modified to help control all of the horsepower produced by the engine. A push-button TorqueFlite automatic transmission, electric clock, dual rear-view mirrors, padded dash, power windows, power steering, and power seats added to the amenities provided by the Adventurer. Swivel bucket seats were part of the unique interior, which helped entry and exit from the low vehicle. This iconic and revolutionary mid-century American automobile is a must-have for any serious collector!
